In recent years, Ethiopia has been embroiled in conflicts and civil war that have torn the fabric of the nation apart. What was once hailed as a beacon of hope and progress in Africa has now become a battleground for various factions vying for power and control. However, upon closer examination, it becomes evident that the root cause of these conflicts lies in the insidious power struggle among the ruling elites who seek to benefit themselves at the expense of the nation and its people.

The conflicts and civil war in Ethiopia can be seen as nothing more than a power struggle between ruling elites to secure better positions for themselves and their allies. It all began with the war against the Tigray region, led by the Amhara and Oromo elites who sought to assert their dominance and control over the region. This conflict escalated as Eritrea and Somalia were drawn into the fray, turning what started as a regional dispute into a full-blown humanitarian crisis with reports of genocide and atrocities in Tigray.

The second front of this power struggle unfolded as the Amhara and Oromo elites, under the guise of prosperity and liberation, joined forces to fight in Oromia against the Oromo Liberation Army. This alliance, which seemed to be based on shared interests, quickly unravelled as hidden agendas and conflicting ambitions came to light. The Amhara Prosperity, in particular, organized an armed insurrection against the ruling Oromo Prosperity in a bid to seize control of state power and further their interests. The involvement of groups like Fano and the imprisonment of Prosperity Party leader Yohannes Bouyalew serve as clear indicators of the internal power struggle within the ruling elites.

What is unfolding in Ethiopia is not a war of ideology or principle, but a war of convenience and self-interest. The different factions within the ruling elites are using their political affiliations as a smokescreen to mask their true intentions of consolidating power and wealth for themselves. The suffering of the Ethiopian people, who bear the brunt of this power struggle, is merely collateral damage in the quest for dominance and control.

As the conflicts and civil war in Ethiopia continue to rage on, it is imperative to recognize the underlying motives driving these conflicts. By exposing the true nature of the power struggle among the ruling elites, we can begin to address the root causes of the violence and instability plaguing the nation.
